概要 | Embryos of zebra sh and medaka are externally fertilized and optically transpar- ent, and so internal formation process of cardiovasculature can be assessed throughout devel- opment. This makes the zebra sh and medaka ideal for genetic and experimental embryologic analysis of circulatory and lymphatic systems. Furthermore, powerful forward genetics in both species, species-speci c differences in anatomical features, and the phylogenetic distance be- tween the two species, make them well-suited for a comparative approach. This review brie y describes the accomplishments and challenges on using zebra sh and medaka as research or- ganisms to investigate vertebrate cardiovascular development. |
