概要	(2-Oxo-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl methacrylate (I) was prepd. by fixation of CO2 into glycidyl methacrylate. Pure I polymd. spontaneously at room temp. Radical polymn. of I (purity 94%) was carried out at 60° using AIBN as an initiator in DMSO to give the corresponding homopolymer (II) (yield: 99%) which is sol. in DMSO and DMF. II was reacted with BuNH2 at room temp. in DMSO for 24 h to the corresponding polymethacrylate (yield: 100%) having a hydroxyurethane group in the side chain. No reaction of the ester groups of II with BuNH2 was obsd. This was also demonstrated by the model reaction of (2-oxo-1,3-dioxolan-4-yl)methyl isobutyrate with BuNH2 in which the corresponding hydroxyurethanes were isolated in 96% yield.
