概要	Treating carbonyl compds. or their di-Me acetals with arom. compds. in the presence of GaCl2 gave Friedel-Crafts alkylated adducts in good yields. Adducts are likely obtained by redn. of the carbonyl compds. or their di-Me acetals, followed by the Friedel-Crafts reaction in one-pot. This is the first org. synthetic method with GaCl2, low valent gallium. Thus, PhCHO reacted with PhOMe in CS2 in the presence of Ga2Cl4 at 0° to give 77% a mixt. of p- and o-MeOC6H4CH2Ph in the ratio of 44:56 resp.
