概要 | A review with 25 refs. Highly selective mol. recognition can be realized by cumulation and organization of various types of recognition sites in a host mol. A cylindrical macrotricyclic receptor I having a crown ether unit as an electrostatic interaction site and a cyclophane unit as a hydrophobic interaction site facing each other at a const. distance by 2 rigid bridges was designed. Receptor I formed 1:1 complexes with ω-phenylalkylammonium picrates II, and the complexes having a 5-6 methylene chain were 3-4 times more stable than the others. From NMR analyses, cooperative phenomenon of electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions was demonstrated. In general, the increase of the hydrophobic interaction between the cyclophane unit in I and the benzene ring in II, which caused the decrease of ΔH, restricted the mobility of benzene ring, resulting in the decrease of ΔS. The selectivity in the complexation of I with II decreased at a higher temp. |
