概要	Cinnamaldehyde acetalization with 3-chloro-1,2-propanediol in benzene in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid yielded 4-chloromethyl-2-styryl-1,3-dioxolane that underwent dehydrochlorination by tert-BuOK in THF to give 4-methylene-2-styryl-1,3-dioxolane (I). The I was polymd. in CH2Cl2 using common cationic catalysts (BF3OEt2 and CF3SO3H). NMR spectra of the polymer confirmed that the monomer attacked the terminal cation at α-position and a single-type unit structure with pendent phenylstyryl group was formed. No crosslinking was obsd. under increasing polymn. temp.
