| 概要 | This short article discusses the hitherto unnoted early (and, arguably, the earliest) use of the word 'space' in its cosmic sense found in the 1582 edition of the Second Tome of Homilies, and suggests that it antedates the earliest citation of this sense of space recorded in the OED by no less than eighty years.
(This find has now been officially incorporated in the entry of the sense '8' of the word space (n.) in the OED Online.) |
