概要 | In 1973, a linguistic paradigm was proposed that argues the mother tongue of descendants of enslaved Africans in the United States is not a dialect of English, but a neo-African language derived from West African languages. Through the life story of an individual black linguist, this paper discusses the relationship between the Afrocentric linguistic paradigm and the black nationalism that was flourishing at the time. |
