概要 | This study examined the ecological response of microalgae, particularly diatoms, to the dynamic environment of first-year sea ice in Saroma-ko Lagoon, Hokkaido, Japan. Despite varying temperatures within the ice, algae maintained high photosynthetic activity, indicating acclimation to changing light conditions. Smaller algal cells were concentrated in the upper ice layers, while larger cells, such as Detonula confervacea, were more abundant in the lower layers and exhibited morphological adaptations, suggesting a response to the unique environmental conditions within the ice. |
