概要 | Fluoropolymers, olefinic polymers in which some or all of the hydrogen atoms are replaced by fluorine atoms, are used in industrial equipment to impact corrosion resistance because they show high resistance to temperature, chemicals, ignition, mechanical stresses, UV irradiation, and weather, owing to their high thermal and chemical stability. Wider use of fluoropolymers will need the establishment of waste treatment. If the polymers could be decomposed to F– ions (i.e., undergo mineralization) by means of environmentally benign techniques, the well-established protocol for treatment of F- ions could be used, whereby Ca2+ is added to the system to convert it to CaF2. We report herein an effective method for mineralization of fluororubber to F- and CO2 using subcritical water. |
