概要 | The purpose of this study is to examine the professional development (PD) program to increase capacity in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) activities in Japan. In a recent review, it was found that SoTL plays an essential role in improving learning outcomes and academia as a learning-centered enterprise. In Japan, four major universities of education - Aichi, Hokkaido, Tokyo and Osaka - forming the so-called HATO group, organized a collaborative research project. The HATO project analyzed evidence gathered from a literature review, a survey, and interviews and was able to conceptualize the definition of PD within a framework based on the eight capacities of PD. These findings suggest that the role of our colleges of education, the PD course and PD resources enhance training education related to SoTL. |
