概要 | Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) is melt-processable and shows high resistance to temperature, chemicals, ignition, and mechanical stresses. Owing to these specific characters, PVDF and related copolymers have been used for various applications. As for the waste treatment, these fluoropolymers can be incinerated. However, incineration requires high temperatures to break the strong C–F bonds, and the released hydrogen fluoride gas can seriously damage the firebrick of an incinerator. Therefore, alternative decomposition methodology should be desired.In the present study, we examined the reactions of PVDF and copolymersin subcritical water by use of KMnO4. |
