概要 Fluoropolymers are high performance materials that allow high resistances to heat, chemicals, ignition, mechanical stresses, and UV-light irradiation. Especially, poly(ethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene) copolymer (ETFE) is used as piping, wire insulation, protective films, fuel tubing and other purposes because it has combined characteristics of the high stability of fluoropolymers with the melt processability of common thermoplastic polyolefins. Wider use of these polymers will require the establishment of efficient waste treatment protocol. We report herein an effective method for mineralization of ETFE using superheated water (i.e., subcritical water) with an alkaline reagent.
